21 February 2014, Male'; Minister of External Affairs of India, H. E. Shri Salman Khurshid has concluded his official visit to the Maldives.
The visit coincided with his participation in the 35th Session of the SAARC Council of Ministers held in the Maldives. Minister of External Affairs H.E. Shri Salman Khurshid called on the President of Maldives His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon.
During the visit, External Affairs Minister formally handed over the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies building constructed with the assistance of Government of India. Minister also handed over a naval Landing Craft to the Government of Maldives and laid a foundation stone for a new building for the Ministry of Defence to be constructed with Indian assistance.
A joint statement following the official talks held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was issued today. The statement outlines key areas of discussions that were held between the two countries and some of the outcomes of those discussions.
