01 May 2013, Male'; The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah, today launched an awareness song on "Human Trafficking" in conjunction with the International Labour Day. This is part of the "Blue Ribbon Campaign: Stand Against Human Trafficking" which was launched by the Ministry on 9January 2013, to raise awareness among the public on the issue of human trafficking in the Maldives. The campaign is designed to reach out to the general public on the causes and consequences of the crime of trafficking.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah stressed on the importance of setting up mechanisms to combat human trafficking, and raising public awareness on the issue. The Minister also thanked the "Bridesmen" for compiling the music, Mr. Hassan Hilmy for the lyrics and Mr. Ibrahim Ali (Kuda Ibbe) for assisting with the sound recording.
