Members of the Commonwealth Observers Delegation Has Paid a Courtesy Call on the President

24 March 2014, Male'; Members of the commonwealth's delegation who had arrived in Maldives to observe the parliamentary elections, has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.



At the meeting held this morning at the President's Office, members of the delegation noted that the election was well organized and had taken place very smoothly. Further, chairman of the delegation Mr Bruce Golding, lauded the Maldivians for having demonstrated a remarkable example of democracy during the process.Members of the delegation also shared some concerns they had noted during the elections and in addition underscored the importance ofmaintainingpublic confidence in officials, such as members of the Election Commision,who fulfill state's vital functions.

President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister at the President's Office Hon. Mohamed ‎‎Hussain Shareef, Minister at the President's Office Hon. Mohamed Ameen and Ambassador at Large Abdulla Hameed.
