Maldives to host the "Third Maldives – European Union Senior Officials meeting
The Third Maldives – European Union Senior Officials meeting will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon. The Senior Officials Meeting between the Maldives and the European Union is held annually to facilitate open and constructive engagement between the Maldives and the European Union and to further strengthen the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the sides.
The thematic areas of discussion of this years meeting will be on Governance, Democracy, Human Rights, Rule of Law; Prevention of Violent Extremism and Counterterrorism, Economic and Trade Cooperation, Development Cooperation; sectoral issues; regional cooperation and international cooperation.
The Maldives delegation will be led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel. Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President’s Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Attorney General’s Office, National Security Advisor’s Office, Maldives Police Service and National Counter Terrorism Center will participate in this meeting.
The delegation from the European Union will be led by the Deputy Managing Director at the European External Action Service, Paola Pampaloni.
