Maldives delegation has departed to Ethiopia to attend the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD) scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa from 13 - 16 July 2015.The Maldives delegation to the conference is headed by Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Treasury, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Jaleel.
This Conference will focus on three main areas, they are, assessing the progress made in the implementation of the Monterrey Consensus and the Doha Declaration and identifying obstacles and constraints encountered in the achievement of the goals and objectives agreed therein, as will be Addressing new and emerging issues, including in the context of the recent multilateral efforts to promote international development cooperation, and reinvigorating and strengthening the financing for development follow-up process.
The expected outcome of the conference is an intergovernmentally negotiated and agreed outcome, constituting an important contribution to and support for the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda.
Senior Advisor Hon. Jaleel is accompanied by Deputy Permanent Representative, Mr. Jeffrey Salim Waheed, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations, Ms. Mariyam Midhfa Naeem and Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Aishath Fareena.
