Maldives Canned Tuna Promotion Night

25th September 2012, Male'; The Embassy of the Maldives in Japan held a Maldives Canned Tuna Promotion Night on 24th September 2012 in Tokyo. This event held at Tokyo's famous restaurant "Tokyo Culture Culture" in Odaiba was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with a well known Japanese freelance writer known as "Can Doctor," Mr. Hayato Kurokawa and was produced by the Nifty Company Ltd.



The response to the event was very encouraging. A large number of people, including officials from the canned foods industry, wholesalers and importers as well as the media and friends of the Maldives attended the event. The event was also webcast live to over 3 million viewers.

The main sponsor of the event was Felivaru Maldives, the oldest canning factory specializing in canned tuna in the Maldives. Other sponsors included Tokamachi Citiy in Nigata Prefecture, Hakusui-sha and Kayaku 55.

The event was co-sponsored by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
