24th November 2013, Male'; His Excellency Mr. Rajeev Shahare, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Maldives paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs today.
At the call, His Excellency Mr. Rajeev Shahare exchanged a letter from His Excellency Mr. Salman Khurshid, Minister of External Affairs of India. In his letter, he highlighted on the historical close ties between the two countries and expressed hope to work closely to further strengthen the bilateral relations. He also assured India's full support and cooperation for the progress, development and prosperity of Maldivian people.
Minister Dunya and High Commissioner Shahare discussed on ways to resolve the current issues related to obtaining visa for Maldivians to enter India, especially medical visa.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sanjay Rana, Deputy High Commissioner and Ms. Farzana Zahir, Director, Head of South Asia Section.
