India lifts travel restrictions and resume visa-free travel to India for Maldivian nationals

The Government of India lifts the COVID-19 restrictions to travel to India for Maldivians who wishes to travel to India for medical, business and tourism purposes effective from 15 October 2021.

The decision will fully restore the Visa Facilitation Agreement signed between Maldives and India during the State Visit by His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to India in December 2018, to facilitate easier travel between both countries.

Maldives is the first beneficiary of visa-free travel since COVID-19 travel restrictions were imposed by India in March 2020. India has been among the first to respond during this pandemic, as it has with every crisis Maldives has faced, through the many gestures of goodwill, humanitarian assistance, and friendship.
