High Commissioner of Malaysia calls on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
His Excellency Tan Yang Thai, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of Maldives paid a courtesy call on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
State Minister Khaleel thanked the Government of Malaysia for the kind hospitality extended towards the Maldivian community in Malaysia. State Minister Khaleel noted that Malaysia is a destination of choice for Maldivian students and that Malaysia is a country that hosts one of the largest Maldivian communities.
State Minister Khaleel and High Commissioner Tan Yang, discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly bilateral ties, especially in relation to bilateral trade cooperation, education, sports and economic development cooperation.
Both also discussed consular matters relating to the Maldivians living in Malaysia and exchanged views on further simplifying the existing arrangements.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Javed Faizal, Executive Director, Ms. Fathmath Naeema and Desk Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Haail.
