The High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Mr. Munu Mahawar paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel this morning. The meeting highlighted High Commissioner’s significant contributions over more than three years, particularly his role in strengthening Maldives-India relations.
Foreign Minister Khaleel commended the High Commissioner for his pivotal role enhancing bilateral ties, fostering people-to-people connections, and facilitating key initiatives. Minister also acknowledged the support of the Government of India for transformative projects, including mega infrastructure and community development projects, and highlighted milestones such as the RuPay card, introduction of UPI, and local currency trade agreements, which have boosted economic cooperation.
High Commissioner Munu Mahawar conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Government of Maldives for the invaluable support and partnership extended during his tenure. He expressed confidence in the continued growth and prosperity of Maldives - India relations.
Foreign Minister Khaleel and High Commissioner Munu Mahawar reflected on the notable achievements of the past year, including key outcomes from the recent State Visit to India by President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Foreign Minister Khaleel extended his best wishes to the High Commissioner for future success and expressed hope that he would remain a steadfast friend of the Maldives, fostering enduring ties between the two nations.
