Government of Maldives Condemns the Damage Done to Indian High Commissioner's Car

29 October 2013, Male'; In a statement issued on Tuesday by the President's Office, the government of Maldives has strongly condemned the damage done to the car of Indian High Commissioner to Maldives His Excellency Mr. Rajeev Shahare, which was parked outside the High Commission in Male.



The statement reads as follows;

"The Government of Maldives strongly condemn the attack, last night, on the car of Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare, which was parked outside the High Commission in Male'.

The Government assures that the cowardly attack will be swiftly investigated and those responsible brought to justice.

Such unlawful acts against any foreign diplomat or their property will not be tolerated and the government will take every necessary action to protect diplomats residing in the country.

The close and friendly relation that exists between the Maldives and India is based on mutual respect, understanding and reinforced by a shared vision of a better future for our people. The government and the people of the Maldives deeply appreciate the immense contributions made by India towards the development of Maldives and consider India our closest ally. The Maldives' government is confident that the close relations that exist between our two countries will continue to strengthen."
