13 September 2012, Male'; The Government of Maldives condemned the attacks on the US Embassy in Cairo and the US Consulate in Benghazi in the strongest terms and pledged Maldives full support to the Government and the people of the United States.
In a message send to US Secretary of State H. E. Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clintonby the Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah said, "It was with deep shock and horror that I learnt of the attacks on the US Embassy in Cairo and the US Consulate in Benghazi which has caused loss of innocent lives including those of US diplomats working in the Consulate, and injury to many others."
Foreign Minister in his message extended the profound sympathy of the Maldives to the Secretary of State, the Government and the people of the United States and also conveyed sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
