Government aims to serve the people with a strong mandate founded on economic transformation, youth empowerment and domestic security - Vice President

08 June 2014; Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has stated that the Government aims to serve the Maldivian people with a strong mandate founded on economic transformation, youth empowerment and domestic security. The Vice President made this remark while speaking at the 9th China-South Asia Business Forum, held in China.



The Vice President also underscored the high priority given by President Yameen to encourage foreign investment and capital towards the realisation of the Government's ambitious economic development programmes and projects.

In his speech, the Vice President noted the interest exhibited by Corporate China towards infrastructure development projects in the Maldives, and assured Chinese investors that every effort will be made by the Government to ensure that the investment climate in the Maldives was flexible and efficient.

Focusing on Sino-Maldives development ties, Vice President Jameel highlighted that China has been the number one tourism market in the Maldives for four consecutive years. He also indicated that tourist arrivals from China are forecasted to increase in the future.
