Former President attends state funeral of late Crown Prince Nayef

18th June 2012, Male'; The President's Special Envoy His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Former President of Maldives on Sunday attended the state funeral for the late Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz at the Masjid Al-Haram, Mecca.



During his stay in Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom met with His Majesty King of Saudi Arabia Khadim Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain Al-Malek Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and conveyed to him sincere regards and best wishes from Maldives President His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Waheed.

On behalf of the government and people of Maldives, the Special Envoy expressed deep condolences over the death of Late Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz and sincere sympathies to his family.

Special Envoy of the President of Maldives said Late Crown Prince was a good friend of the Maldives people and made important contributions to promoting the development of the Maldives - Saudi Arabia relations, which the Maldives government and people will never forget.

His Majesty King of Saudi Arabia Khadim Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain Al-Malek Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud conveyed his best wishes and gratitude to President Mohamed Waheed and the people of Maldives.
