Foreign Secretary Ghafoor participates as Chief Guest at webinar on ‘Historic 7th March Speech by the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’

Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed participated as Chief Guest at a webinar organised by the High Commission of Bangladesh to mark the historic occasion of the 7th March Speech delivered by the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Speaking at the webinar held this morning, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor highlighted that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman provided a complete guideline regarding the approach towards the path of freedom and the sacrifice to be made by all to achieve it, in his concise but complete speech. Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor added that the most unconventional and noteworthy point was Sheikh Mujib’s humanistic approach while delivering his instructions through the speech. Foreign Secretary further noted that the speech contained ideological strategies and showcased great linguistic skills that reached the minds and hearts of the people of Bangladesh.

He also expressed his pleasure and felicitations to learn that UNESCO has enlisted the historic speech in the world’s documentary heritage as well as its inclusion in the “Memory of the World Register”.

Foreign Secretary further noted that the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, is leading Bangladesh on a journey of development and prosperity and that under her leadership, the relationship between Maldives and Bangladesh is growing stronger.

Foreign Secretary Ghafoor thanked High Commissioner of Bangladesh His Excellency Mohammad Nazmul Hassan for organising the very interesting and informative webinar and the invitation extended to be its chief guest.
