The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid will undertake an Official Visit to New Delhi, India at the invitation of the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar. Minister Shahid is scheduled to depart to New Delhi today. The official engagements are scheduled for 11 and 12 July 2023.
During the visit, official talks will be held between the two Foreign Ministers, on all aspects of the traditionally close friendly relations between the Maldives and India. Both Ministers will discuss on ongoing and future development projects in the Maldives and on strengthening the international cooperation. Minister Shahid will also meet other high level officials of the Government of India during the visit. Additionally, the visit will also signify the strengthening of Maldives-India partnership, as several Memorandums of Understanding are to be exchanged in the field of socioeconomic cooperation.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will also be delivering the 43rd Sapru House Lecture (SHL) at the Indian Council for World Affairs and meet with a number of Non-Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to the Maldives based in New Delhi.
