The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of sympathies to the Minister Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, His Excellency Dr. A.K Abdul Momen, following the devastating floods which have impacted the lives of almost a million Bangladeshis.

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this calamity would no doubt greatly add to the challenges faced by almost a million Bangladeshis.

At this time of national distress, on behalf of the Government and the people of Maldives, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Government and the people of Bangladesh, especially to those directly affected and to the families who lost their livelihoods.

I sincerely hope that the efforts of the response teams proceed swiftly and successfully, and commend the perseverance of the people of Bangladesh during this crisis.”
