Foreign Minister Shahid sends a message of condolence to the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has sent a message of condolence to the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of condolence to the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mohammad Haneef Atmar following the terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply shocked by the news of the recent spate of terror attacks in Afghanistan.

The targeting of the most vulnerable, including women and newborn babies, at a maternity ward in Kabul is exceedingly abhorrent, and the suicide blast at a funeral in Eastern Afghanistan is equally appalling. The Maldives stands against all forms and acts of terrorism.

The Government of Maldives strongly condemns these despicable acts of terror, and stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Afghanistan.

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, and on my own behalf, allow me to extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims, and members of the affected and bereaved families.”
