Minister Shahid and Lord Ahmad discussed the upcoming presidency of the UK at the COP26, to be held in November 2021
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid held a virtual meeting with Minister for South Asia and the Commonwealth at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom, Lord Ahmad of Wimbeldon, this afternoon.
The two Ministers discussed on-going bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Maldives and the United Kingdom in areas such as environment and climate change, counter-terrorism, trade and investment, and defence. Minister Shahid and Lord Ahmad further discussed the upcoming presidency of the UK at the COP26, to be held in November 2021. Minister Shahid assured close collaboration between the Maldives and the UK in the lead up to and at the COP26, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland. Both Ministers also shared views on the on-going Covid-19 pandemic and efforts by both countries to overcome it.
Foreign Minister Shahid and Lord Ahmad, further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries in the years ahead.
