Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, this evening.
During the telephone conversation, the two Ministers deliberated on the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and shared perspectives on the current situation of the Covid-19 crisis. Minister Shahid briefed on the ongoing vaccination programme in the Maldives, and the progression of the economic recovery under the National Resilience and Recovery 2020-2022 plan. Minister Shahid further noted the continuation and surge of terrorist attacks targeted towards the Kingdom and reaffirmed the solidarity of the Government of Maldives with the brotherly people and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Both Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhance the brotherly relations and cooperation between Maldives and Saudi Arabia based on shared values, mutual respect and understanding, and to continue working together on issues of mutual concern in the multilateral arena.
