Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid held a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Amery Browne, today.
During the telephone call, the two Ministers discussed the challenges faced by Maldives and Trinidad and Tobago due to the ongoing pandemic and briefed on the measures taken by the respective governments to contain the spread of the virus. As Small Island Developing States, the Ministers also shared experiences on addressing the impact and on the priorities and challenges during post Covid19 and in the recovery efforts.
Foreign Minister Shahid and Foreign Minister Browne also discussed enhancing the strong bilateral and multilateral ties between the two countries by increasing cooperation in a wide range of areas of mutual interest and stressed on the importance of working together to collaborate in addressing the special vulnerabilities faced by SIDS in the multilateral system.
Minister Shahid and Minister Browne further highlighted on the economic and financial impacts of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the efforts underway to revive the economy.
