Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and CARICOM Affairs of Grenada

Both Ministers further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries in the years ahead

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid held a telephone call with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and CARICOM Affairs of Grenada, Oliver Joseph, this evening.

During the telephone call, the two Ministers discussed the challenges faced by Maldives and Grenada due to the COVID-19 pandemic and briefed on the measures taken by the respective governments to contain the spread of the virus. As Small Island Developing States, the Ministers also shared experiences on addressing the impact and on the priorities and challenges in the post Covid19 era and in the recovery efforts.

Foreign Minister Shahid and Foreign Minister Joseph also discussed enhancing the strong bilateral and multilateral ties between the two countries by increasing cooperation in a wide range of areas of mutual interest including tourism and stressed on the importance of working together to collaborate in addressing the special vulnerabilities faced by SIDS in the multilateral system.

Both Ministers further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries in the years ahead.
