The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid held a telephone call with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, Jerome Xavier Walcott, JP, today.
During the telephone call, Minister Shahid and Minister Walcott exchanged information about the impact of the evolving situation of COVID-19 on the Small Island Developing States and shared experiences on addressing the impact and on the priorities and challenges in the post Covid19 era and in the recovery efforts.
Both Ministers also discussed enhancing the strong bilateral and multilateral ties between the two countries by increasing cooperation in a wide range of areas of mutual interest including tourism and stressed on the importance of working together to collaborate in addressing the special vulnerabilities faced by SIDS in the multilateral system.
Foreign Minister Shahid and Foreign Minister Walcott further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries in the years ahead.
