Foreign Minister sends a message of sympathy to the Foreign Minister of Japan

Minister of Foreign Affairs has sent a message of sympathy to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan following the torrential rain

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of sympathy to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, His Excellency Toshimitsu Motegi, following the torrential rain which caused widespread damage in the Southwest region of Japan.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of lives and damage to thousands of homes and property, caused by the devastating landslides and flooding that has resulted from the torrential rains currently affecting southwest of Japan.

At this time of national tragedy, on behalf of the Government of Maldives and on my own behalf, I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Government and the friendly people of Japan.

I hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and pray for the strength and fortitude for the people of Japan. Please also convey my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
