06 April 2012, Male';Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah has held official talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart H. E. Professor G. L. Peiris, who is in the Maldives on a four day official visit.
In the official talks held at Foreign Ministry this afternoon both Foreign Ministers discussed ways of further strengthening the close historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Nothing the exemplarily relations between the two countries, Professor Peiris assured the continued assistance and cooperation of Sri Lanka to the Maldives. Minister Samad thanked the Sri Lankan Government for the contribution to the socio-economic advancement of the Maldives, especially through human resource development.
The talks were also attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Hassan Saeed Hussain, Foreign Secretary Mr. Mohamed Naseer and senior officials of the Ministry. H. E. Professor G. L. Peiris was accompanied by Honourable Sajin De Vass Gunawardena, Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan High Commissioner H. E. Mr. W. W. M. R. D. S. Dela and senior official of the Sri Lankan Delegation.
