04 May 2014, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of condolence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan His Excellency Mr. Zarar Ahmad Osmani, following the deadly mudslide in the north-east province of Badakhshan on Friday, 02 May 2014.
Minister Dunya's message reads as follows:
"It is with deep sorrow that I learnt of the tragic news of the landslide that killed over 2000 people and left several unaccounted for and many more homeless since last Friday.
As the country mourns this great tragedy, I wish to convey personal condolences to your Excellency and the people of Afghanistan especially to those who have lost their loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and pray to Almighty Allah to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear this loss."
