9 March 2014, Male'; Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of sympathy to Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah Hj. Aman of Malaysia, following the tragic news of the disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines flight which was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, on Saturday.
Foreign Minister Dunya's message reads as follows:
"It was with deep shock and sorrow that I learned the tragic news of the disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines flight which was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 passengers and crew members."
"On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Malaysia. Please also convey our sincere sympathies to the members of the families of the passengers."
"At this time of national distress, our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and the people of Malaysia."
