20 June 2014, Male': Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has returned to Maldives, concluding her visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend the 41st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Minister Dunya delivered a statement at the Meeting in which she highlighted that Islamic principles, values of justice and equality of all humans are in line with modern democratic values. She also spoke about the deep impact Islam had on the rights of women and called on the OIC to work to safeguard women's rights around the world.
The 41st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Ministers of the fifty-seven member organization discussed ways in addressing some of the major challenges facing the Islamic Ummah, under the theme "exploring areas of Islamic Cooperation".Minister Dunya was accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Hameed, Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Mariyam Midhfa Naeem, Assistant Director at the Ministry.
