Foreign Minister Dunya Holds Interaction with Maldivians in Malaysia

05 February 2014, Male'; The Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon hosted a special function for Maldivian nationals in Malaysia last night. The event, which was held at the Maldives High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, was well attended by Maldivians studying and living in Malaysia.



At the function, the Minister outlined the Government's foreign policy priorities and highlighted the efforts of the Government in providing quality consular service to Maldivians living abroad. In this regard, the Minister announced that due to the recent changes in Malaysian Immigration policies that require all international students to obtain a separate single entry visa after their visa approval is granted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made an arrangement to facilitate the acquisition of the single entry visa from Colombo without students having to travel to Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister also listened to the ideas and concerns of the Maldivians including the challenges they face in their stay and travel to Malaysia.

The Minister is currently on a one-day working visit to Kuala Lumpur and is scheduled to return to Male' tonight after concluding her visit.
