28 April 2014, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon has arrived this evening, on conclusion of her official visit to Sri Lanka.
Minister Dunya held official meetings with the Sri Lanka leadership and discussed follow up matters that were discussed during the visit of His Excellency President Yameen's State visit to Sri Lanka in January.
Minister Dunya reiterated President Yameen's invitation to President Rajapaksa. Minister also discussed allocation of land by both countries for the construction of High Commission buildings and discussed ongoing collaboration in education and health sectors. President Rajapaksa assured the support of the Government of Sri Lanka for the development initiative of the Government of Maldives.
Minister Dunya's visit to Sri Lanka was on the invitation of Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka H. E. Prof. G.L. Peiris, to attend an event hosted by H.E. President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth to celebrate the Cultural Diversity of the Commonwealth.
