Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel, attends the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, attended the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), currently being held at the United Arab Emirates. The opening ceremony featured the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards, which recognise outstanding global contributions to sustainable development. 

At this year’s ceremony, Faafu Atoll Education Centre was announced as a winner in the Global High Schools Category - South Asia marking a significant achievement for the Maldives and highlighting the role of youth led innovation in sustainability. The award recognises the school’s ambitious, student led project  that integrates solar and wind energy, rainwater harvesting, sustainable farming, hydrophonics based innovation, and improved water management to support food security, health and environment.  

The Maldives’ participation at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability week  reflects its continued commitment to sustainability, climate action, and education-driven innovation.

Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel is accompanied by Ambassador of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Additional Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, and Assistant Director Fathimath Reena of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
