10 March 2014, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E Ms. Dunya Maumoon has returned to Male' followingthe conclusion of her visitto Geneva after attending the High Level Segment of the 25th Session of the Human Rights Council.
At the High Level Segment of the 25th Session of the Human Rights Council, Minister Dunya had called on the international partners for constructive engagement with the Maldives in its democratic transition.
Further, Minister Dunya participated in the High Level Dialogue on Promotion of Preventive Approaches within the United Nations System, held at the Session. In the statement delivered by the Minister she had called on the need for long-term and broader measures to prevent human rights violations.
At the sidelines, Minister Dunya also met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Navi Pillay, United Nations Secretary General, Ban ki Moon, OIC Secretary General His Excellency Mr Iyad Ameen Madani and other bilateral partners.
On her return journey and in transiting through Istanbul, Minister Dunya also met with Honorary Consul of the Maldives in Istanbul H.E. Mr. Nihat Boytuzun.
