02nd April 2012, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah briefed the Diplomatic community based in New Delhi, India.
At the meeting Minister briefed the diplomats on the prevailing domestic political situation and underlined President Waheed's priority of consolidating calm and peace in the country. He also conveyed the President's desire to strengthen the National Unity Government and expressed that early election would be welcomed by the Government should all parties agree to that effect.
Continuing, the Minister highlighted the importance of merging the democratic institutions and reinstating public confidence in the judiciary. After the briefing, Minister and the Maldivian High Commissioner to India H. E. Mr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf answered the questions raised by the audience.
The briefing session was attended by a number of Ambassadors from the Diplomatic Corp in New Delhi and other representatives from the Missions.
The briefing was also attended by Foreign Secretary Mr. Mohamed Naseer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
