An official ceremony to mark the completion of the Dhaalu Vaanee Police Training Centre Phase 2, facilitated under Indian grant assistance was held today at Iskandhar Koshi. The ceremony also coincided with the 16th anniversary of the establishment of the Maldives Police Service as a civil policing organisation in 2004.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla, High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudhir, and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, and other officials from the Government, Maldives Police Service and the High Commission of India in Malé attended the ceremony.
The Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla presented a plaque of appreciation to the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudhir, in appreciation of the financial contribution from the Government of India towards the completion of the project.
A grant of 7,999,999.78 rufiyaa was allocated to the Maldives Police Service from the grant assistance of 106 million Rufiya provided by the Government of India. The objective of the Project was to finance the second phase of the Dhaalu Vaanee Development Project which includes the establishment of a reverse osmosis plant, gymnasium, repelling tower, swimming track, vehicles and skills enhancing equipment.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the inauguration of the Dhaalu Vaanee Police Training Centre promises enhanced professionalism and alertness to among the Police Service, which in turn ensures the safety of our community. The Minister concluded his remarks by congratulating the Maldives Police Service for their courage and bravery, shown time and time again, and congratulated the Service on the 16th anniversary since the establishment of the Maldives Police Service as a civilian policing organization.
