20 June 2012, Male';Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon has said that the Commission of National Inquiry (CoNI), established to make an independent and impartial investigation into developments in the Maldives from 14 January 2012 to 8 February 2012, has been reconstituted as agreed to by the government.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry today, State Minister Dunya said that as agreed with Commonwealth the Government has reconstituted CoNI with a Singaporean judge, nominee from former President Nasheed and advisors from the Commonwealth and UN in addition to the three members that were in the commission earlier.
Dunya expressed confidence that the CoNI can complete its work as planned by 31 July, and that MDP and former President Nasheed would accept the findings of the Commission. She said that MDP publishing various reports is a sign that they might not accept CoNI's conclusions.
