Canadian High Commissioner to the Maldives calls on the Foreign Secretary

Canadian High Commissioner to the Republic of Maldives David McKinnon called on Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, today.

During the meeting held at the Ministry, Foreign Secretary Ghafoor and High Commissioner McKinnon exchanged views on the current global situation of COVID-19 and the economic and financial impacts.

Foreign Secretary Ghafoor and High Commissioner McKinnon further reassured strengthening the close ties between both countries by increasing cooperation in areas of mutual interest especially environment and climate change. Discussions were also held to further enhance the collaboration at the multilateral fora to address global issues of mutual importance.

High Commissioner McKinnon was accompanied by Valerie Ouellette, Second Secretary at the Canadian High Commission.

Foreign Secretary Ghafoor was accompanied by Shiuneen Rasheed, Joint Secretary and Saifulla Waleed, Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
