The Australian High Commissioner to the Maldives, David Holly paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, both the Foreign Minister and the High Commissioner held discussions on issues of mutual importance, such as defence and security cooperation, human resource development, climate change and ways to strengthen cooperation at the multilateral domain.
Discussions were also held on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the economic recovery efforts that are underway. Foreign Minister Shahid thanked the High Commissioner for Australia’s assistance during the pandemic, which includes two PPE shipments and a donation of USD 300,000 through UNFPA to ensure that essential reproductive health and gender-based violence, information and services are accessible to women and girls during the pandemic.
