04 December 2013, Male';The Australian High Commissioner to the Maldives, H.E. Robyn Mudie, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs today.
At the meeting, the Australian High Commissioner congratulated Minister Dunya on her appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and discussions were held on the strong bilateral relations between the Maldives and Australia, and on ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Dunya thanked the Australian government for its development assistance to the Maldives in the field of human resource development. She noted with appreciation the announcement of further scholarship opportunities for Maldivian youth in Australian institutions. Ambassador Mudie assured the Minister, of Australia's continued assistance in strengthening the country's democratic institutions, and noted with satisfaction, the prevalent mood of optimism and confidence of the people, in the Maldives.
Ms Fathimath Inaya, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
