Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer departs to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, will lead Maldives delegation at the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to be held at the level of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 7 August 2024. 

During this visit, Minister Zameer will deliver remarks at the meeting, condemning the continuous acts of genocide being committed by Israel against the Palestinian people and the assassination of Chief of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Iran. He will call on the international community to ensure the rule of law is respected and reiterate Maldives’ unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. 

This meeting will bring together the Member States of OIC to deliberate on the continuous crimes of Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and its aggression against the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Maldives became a member of the OIC in 1976, and since then has actively participated in the activities and meetings of the Organization.
