Aminath Shifana has been appointed as the new Consul General of Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, India, today at a ceremony held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Letter of Appointment was handed over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
Prior to her appointment, Shifana worked as Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has also served as the Permanent Secretary and filled other roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Shifana has diverse experience in administration and human resource management. She first joined the Ministry in 1999.
At the meeting held after the ceremony, Minister Shahid congratulated the new Consul General on her appointment and wished her a successful tenure. Minister Shahid also thanked the outgoing Consul General, Aminath Abdulla Didi for completing her term as the Consul General and returning to take the role as Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Aminath Abdulla Didi was appointed as the first female Consul General of Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, India, in December 2019.
