Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Maldives calls on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Maldives, His Excellency Woonjin Jeong paid a courtesy call on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

At the meeting held this morning, both the Minister of State and the Ambassador welcomed the commemoration of the 54th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The discussions were also focused on the various aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to improve the ties between Maldives and the Republic of Korea.

State Minister Khaleel highlighted the need for Maldives and the Republic of Korea to increase the intensity of the bilateral dialogue between the two countries, including high level exchanges and discussions between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of both countries.

State Minister Khaleel expressed the Maldivian Government’s gratitude for the generous assistance from Government of the Republic of Korea for the fight against Covid-19.

Both State Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Jeong reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in areas such as tourism, education and economic development and collaboration in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.

Ambassador Jeong was accompanied by Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Colombo, Ms. So Yeon Lim, Third Secretary, Mr. Haesung Jung and Research and Public Relations Officer, Ms. Charya Samidhika Gamalath.

State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Javed Faizal, Executive Director, Ms. Fathmath Naeema and Desk Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Haail.
