The Ambassador of Austria, Brigitte Öppinger-Walchshofer paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid this afternoon.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Öppinger-Walchshofer expressed the interest of Austria to expand trade and economic cooperation with the Maldives and enhance the overall bilateral relations between both countries. Minister Shahid welcomed Austria’s proposals and expressed hope for deeper engagement with Maldives and Austria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shiuneen Rasheed.
Ambassador Öppinger-Walchshofer is currently visiting the Maldives to attend the first round of Maldives -European Union business roundtable which was held today in Male’ at Hotel Jen.
