13 May 2014, Male'; The Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Nobuhito Hobo, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon.
At the meeting held this afternoon, Minister Dunya expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to the President of the Republic of Maldives and the members of the delegation during the first Official Visit to Japan, from 14th to 17th April 2014.
At the meeting, Minister Dunya remarked at the value attached by the Government of Maldives in respect of the bilateral ties that exist between the two countries, and highlighted the attributes of shared values, and mutual respect, that underlie the close relations.
Minister also expressed confidence that both Governments would engage in promoting economic cooperation in sectors such as security, fisheries development, tourism, transport, information technology, renewable energy and communication.
Minister Dunya was accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Foreign Secretary and Ms. Aishath Azeema, Joint Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives.
