- H.E. Mr. Mohamed Nasheed visited Bhutan to attend the 16th SAARC Summit that was held in Thimphu from 28 to 29 April 2010.
- President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom visited Bhutan in 1991, and in 1998 in his capacity as the Chairman of SAARC.
- Incoming:
- H.E. Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley, Prime Minister of Bhutan made an official visit to the Maldives, as the Chairman of the SAARC, from 31 March to 3 April 2011. He also visited Maldives the same year to participate in the 17th SAARC Summit held in Addu City on 10 November 2011.
