Foreign Minister Shahid sends a message of condolences to the Foreign Minister of Pakistan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of condolences to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, following the devastating floods across Pakistan. Minister’s message reads as follows:

“ I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of hundreds of lives, mass displacement and the extensive damage and destruction to homes, critical infrastructure and livelihoods due to widespread floods caused by extraordinarily strong monsoon rains across Pakistan, especially in Sindh and Balochistan.

At this time of national distress, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our deepest condolences to the Government and the brotherly people of Pakistan. I extend our heartfelt prayers to alleviate the sufferings to those affected, especially to the bereaved families and the injured.

I hope that the efforts of the rescue and relief teams continue successfully and swiftly, and praise the perseverance of the people of Pakistan during this enduring crisis.
