14 April 2015; Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Dunya Maumoon has conveyed best wishes on the Dhivehi Bahuge Dhuvas (Dhivehi language day), which is being marked nation-wide today. In her message Minister Dunya said that Dhivehi language not only an exceptional and a rich language, but most importantly, it “defines the socio-cultural parameters and a unique identity for the Maldives and Maldivians. Dhivehi is a language that gives one of the most visible and easily identifiable expressions to the Maldives as a nation-state”. Continuing her message, the Minister lauded President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s policy of advancing Dhivehi, and the significant progress that the Dhivehi Language Academy has made in recent years.
