20 April 2015;The head of the Maldives delegation, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Hon Mohamed Jaleel has said at the 60th Anniversary of the Asian African Conference held in Jakarta, that the “Asian-African solidarity helps to make the world safer from the threat of climate change and creating enhanced opportunities for financing for development”.

In his statement, Mr Jaleel said that the “1955 Bandung Principles” still remain relevant. “Bandung principles resonate and continue to inspire people to stand up against any form of neocolonialism, and in promoting self-reliance and economic growth” said Mr Jaleel.

The Maldives also attended the senior officials meeting of the conference that was held on 19 April. Foreign Secretary Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed headed the Maldives delegation at the senior officials meeting.
