H.E. Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has attended the Eighth Bali Democracy Forum themed “Democracy and Effective Public Governance” today.

At the General debate of the forum Dr. Hala said that respective countries work to establish democracy, which is established by the majority, where personal and political rights are ensured through the Rule of Law. She noted that democracy promotes peace and tolerance; benefiting societies to develop socially, economically and politically in a healthy environment. She goes on to speak about the challenges to democracy and the prospects to the challenges: a competent civil service, which can implement government decisions and lessen the challenges to public service delivery.

Concluding her statement Ambassador Hala reiterate that Maldives welcomes “constructive criticisms in goodwill” but Maldives also needs its own individuality “build on our solidarity; steer our democratic governance, with peace, productivity and perseverance”.

Dr. Hala is accompanied by Ms. Moomina Ibrahim, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
