Visa Facilitation Service

The Consular Services Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitates all Maldivian nationals in obtaining visas from foreign missions that are accredited to the Maldives which are not located in the Maldives.

In instances, where the Missions are located in Male’ (India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh), it is the responsibility of the individual to approach the respective mission to obtain relevant visas. All necessary visa application forms and checklists can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, please note that these application forms can be downloaded via the respective websites of relevant Embassies or High Commissions.

All applications shall be submitted to the Ministry along with passports, and relevant documentation mentioned in the application guidelines. In the case of visa fees that need to be sent along with the application, the Ministry will only accept those applications which include a bank draft. In cases of unofficial applicants arrangements will have to be made by the applicant to make the payment directly to the respective Embassy or High Commission. However, if the respective Embassy or High Commission accepts a bank draft made in their favour, the Ministry can accept such a bank draft to be sent along with the visa application.

All visa applications will be accepted by the Ministry during below mentioned hours.

Sun, Tues & Wed: 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs (Morning)

1300 hrs to 1530 hrs (Afternoon)

Mon & Thur: 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs

Passports can be collected (after processing visa): 1400 hrs to 1530 hrs (Sun to Thur)

It is the responsibility of the visa applicant to ensure that the visa forms are duly filled, and that all documents are submitted as per the application guidelines. Any delays as a result of incomplete application forms or missing documents, is not the responsibility of the Ministry. All Embassies and High Commissions have published visa regulations and guidelines on their respective websites. Please read carefully the information contained in the websites of the respective Embassy / High Commission before submitting visa applications.

The Ministry uses a designated courier service to dispatch passports and applications to our High Commissions in Sri Lanka, India and Singapore, who in turn submit the visa applications to the respective Embassies / High Commissions. Once the visas are processed our Missions send the passports back to the Ministry through the designated courier service. Hence, please note that the courier service may take three to four working days to deliver.

Please also note that visas of many countries require submitting necessary biometric details. In such cases the applicant will have to travel in person to the country where the respective Embassy or High Commission is located.
