04th July 2012, Male'; The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to MaldivesHis ExcellencyJens Plotner, paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the call, the Foreign Minister and Ambassador recalled the historical bonds of friendship between the peoples of Germany and the Maldives, and discussed ways of further strengthening the relations.
The Foreign Minister Dr. Samad voiced his gratitude and appreciation for Germany’s continued assistance to support the socio-economic development of the Maldives and expressed hope that the Ambassador will continue to broaden the support to the Maldives in the days ahead. The Minister also outlined the current political situation of the country and emphasized the importance of strengthening the judiciary system of Maldives to Ambassador. In addition, Minister expressed the appreciation for the important role played during his tenure as Ambassador from Germany to Maldives.
The Ambassador Plotner indicated the efforts made by the Government of Maldives in handling the political situation in the country and noted the importance of the work carried out by the Commission of National Inquiry. He further commended the democratic and human rights reform in the Maldives and expressed the support of Germany for the efforts of the Government of Maldives.
The Ambassador Plotner also met Her Excellency Dunya Maumoon, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs today.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Maldives His Excellency Jens Plotner presented his Credential to the President of Maldives on 06 December 2009.
